For many years, I’ve dreamed of being a writer. It really started when one of my college professors asked me a powerful question that became a turning point in my life.
Ever since then, I’ve fantasized about the writer’s life… having the ability to be your boss, setting your hours, working when or even if you want to that day, and working anywhere and wherever you want.
Dreamers fantasize; thinkers materialize
After the dreaming/fantasizing stage, I moved into what I call the thinking stage and began to take all the necessary steps to start bringing my dream into reality.
I had completed several writing courses (literature, publishing, freelance writing, travel writing, copywriting, etc.) and read every book on writing and publishing I could find.
And then, thanks to one of my writing coaches at the time, I pitched my first article as a freelance writer on Spec (essentially, free). I received positive reviews on that assignment, which opened doors to other possibilities.
At this point, I knew I was on to something, but one thing was still missing: my first client.
