One of the best things about being a freelance writer is that you’re in control of what you earn.
In fact, let me use this moment to illustrate a quick point. Back when I was living in Dallas, I worked as a full-time shift security supervisor overnight. My working hours were Monday through Saturday.
Now, Thursday evenings were a little slow. With only a few company workers around, there was not much need for a security officer, doing the mundane work, like issuing visitor badges and whatnot.
With that said, I spent most of my evenings on Thursday making my rounds and shooting the breeze with my colleagues.
However, Monday through Wednesday was the complete opposite. With a constant line of employees forgetting their badges and visitors coming in for interviews, we worked like crazy. Having to make visitor badges, conduct patrols, and do escorts.
By the end of the day, I was exhausted. And I would go home good for nothing, except slouching in front of the TV.
